Purple Corduroy Wine is named for the color and texture simultaneously — the wale-ribbed corduroy textile in the specific shade of purple that fresh young red wine shows before bottle age mutes it to crimson. The purple that young Grenache shows when held to light is the wine's most vibrant, most original state: before it becomes what aging will make it, the youth is visible as purple corduroy.

The El Pomar District boutique produces Grenache and Mourvèdre from calcareous limestone estate vineyard sources with the youth-and-vibrancy philosophy the textile-color name implies. The wines are made to be approachable young while retaining enough structure for medium-term aging.
