About Raphael Winery
Raphael is one of the North Fork's most architecturally striking wineries, housed in a grand Tuscan-inspired stone and timber building on Main Road in Peconic. Founded by John Petrocelli in 1996, the estate was built with a singular vision: to produce world-class Merlot on Long Island. The 60-acre property includes estate vineyards planted primarily to Bordeaux varieties, with Merlot as the undisputed star, alongside Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc.
The tasting room features soaring ceilings, exposed timber trusses, and a warm Mediterranean atmosphere that transports visitors from the North Fork to the Italian countryside. Raphael's estate Merlot has earned critical recognition as one of the finest on Long Island, and the winery regularly hosts events, live music, and seasonal celebrations on its beautifully landscaped grounds. The combination of serious winemaking, stunning architecture, and polished hospitality makes Raphael a flagship destination on the North Fork wine trail.
