Ravenswood Winery

Ravenswood Winery was founded in 1976 by Joel Peterson with a philosophy as direct as the winery's famous tagline: 'No Wimpy Wines.' Peterson's mission was to produce powerful, honest Zinfandels from old vines — the heritage varietals planted by Italian and Croatian immigrants across Sonoma County generations earlier.

Ravenswood pioneered the concept of single-vineyard Zinfandel as a serious collectible wine. Their Dickerson, Teldeschi, and Old Hill vineyard bottlings were California's first Zinfandels to command the collector attention and prices previously reserved for Cabernet Sauvignon — and helped establish Zinfandel as California's signature red grape.

Now part of Constellation Brands, Ravenswood continues to produce from the legendary single-vineyard sites Peterson identified. The Sonoma winery sits just minutes from the Sonoma Plaza with outdoor picnic tables, views of the Sonoma Valley, and a genuine connection to the bold, unpretentious Zinfandel tradition the winery was built on.
