Lake Chelan wine country is Washington State's most visually spectacular wine destination — a 50-mile glacier-carved mountain lake surrounded by vineyards cascading down to the shoreline, with a climate moderated by the lake's thermal mass and the Cascade Mountains that rise dramatically on three sides. The combination of mountain scenery, lakeside resort character, and genuinely distinctive wine production has made Lake Chelan one of the Pacific Northwest's fastest-growing wine tourism destinations.

The Lake Chelan AVA was established in 2009, recognizing that the lake's unique microclimate — warmer than surrounding high-elevation terrain and cooler than the Columbia Valley floor — creates conditions for wines of elegant freshness that differ meaningfully from Washington's other wine regions. Riesling, Pinot Gris, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc are the varieties that show best here, each expressing the lake's moderating influence.

Chelan town and the lakeside communities of Manson and Chelan Falls offer resort accommodation, water sports, and proximity to vineyard tasting rooms that make Lake Chelan a natural multi-day destination. Tsillan Cellars' Sorrento's Ristorante is the most celebrated dining-and-wine experience in the region; Amos Rome Vineyards offers a more intimate and personal approach to lakeside wine tasting.
