About Rose Hill Vineyards
Rose Hill Vineyards is the 2021 rebrand of the pioneering former Shinn Estate Vineyards, on Oregon Road in Mattituck on Long Island's North Fork. The property was made famous by founders Barbara Shinn and David Page, who planted vines in 2000 and championed biodynamic, indigenous-yeast, zero-additive winemaking; Barbara Shinn went on to found Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing, the East Coast's first third-party sustainable viticulture program.
Randy and Barbara Frankel purchased the estate in 2017 and, after a careful renovation, relaunched it as Rose Hill in 2021, a name drawn from the family's early New York roots. Their daughter Chelsea runs the winery, which continues the estate's sustainable farming while adding one of Long Island's most beautifully designed wine spaces, including a Wine Library with a bar salvaged from a 1921 London pub. The wines have earned high honors, with the 2019 Clarity Cabernet Sauvignon winning the Governor's Cup as top red at the 2025 New York Wine Classic.
The estate pairs its tasting room with the Rose Hill Inn, a restored four-room farmhouse bed-and-breakfast set among the vines, plus a vine-side patio and local-goods shop. It is open most days with tastings and is a popular North Fork destination; reservations are recommended for weekend visits, so it is best to confirm current hours and booking directly with the winery.
