About Scheid Vineyards
Scheid Vineyards is one of Monterey County's pioneering wine estates, founded in 1972 by Al Scheid and now farming over 4,000 acres of sustainably certified vineyards along a 70-mile stretch of the Salinas Valley. The family-owned operation is fully integrated from vine to bottle, and the winery and bottling facility are powered entirely by renewable wind energy from a 400-foot turbine on the property. With 11 estate vineyards spanning diverse microclimates, Scheid produces an exceptionally broad portfolio ranging from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to Albarino, Gruner Veltliner, Tannat, and Touriga Nacional.
The estate tasting room on Hobson Avenue in Greenfield sits among the vineyards just off Highway 101, with a spacious outdoor deck, demonstration vineyard, and bocce court. A second tasting room in Carmel-by-the-Sea offers a more intimate village experience. Scheid has earned recognition as a leader in quality, innovation, and sustainability across more than five decades of continuous operation.
