Scholium Project — Sonoma Valley Winery & Tasting Room

Scholium Project is named for the scholium — the marginal commentary, the annotator's note written in the margins of a classical text to explain or expand upon the primary text. The scholium is the aside, the additional thought, the commentary that enriches the original. Applied to wine, the scholium philosophy declares wine as a marginal commentary on nature: the winemaker's annotation of what the vineyard's year produced, an interpretation rather than a creation. Abe Schoener's experimental California wine project produces Verdelho, Chardonnay, and skin-contact whites from estate and contracted California vineyard sources.
