About Skinner Vineyards

Skinner Vineyards is a family winery in the Fair Play area of El Dorado County, high in the Sierra Foothills, with a legacy that reaches back to the Gold Rush. When the Skinner family discovered that their ancestor James Skinner, a Scottish immigrant, had established the original J. Skinner winery in the area from 1861 through the early 1900s, they set out to revive the family name, launching the modern Skinner Vineyards in 2007.

The estate specializes in hand-crafted, Rhone-inspired wines, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, and blends, alongside the Zinfandel that thrives in the region's high-elevation granitic soils. The wines are estate-grown near the very land James once farmed, blending time-honored technique with sustainable practices.

The Fair Play tasting room and terraces at Stoney Creek offer sweeping Sierra views, with a second tasting room at Green Valley Ranch near Rescue. Both welcome relaxed, unhurried visits with patio seating and picnic grounds set among the vines.
