About Stephen Ross Wine Cellars
Stephen Ross Dooley founded his eponymous cellar in 1994 after winemaking posts that included years at Louis Martini in Napa and Edna Valley Vineyard, settling in San Luis Obispo to focus on the cool-climate strengths of the surrounding appellations. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Edna Valley lead the program, joined by old-vine Zinfandel sourced from celebrated heritage vineyards of the region.
Dooley's winemaking is classical and restrained, earning steady critical respect over three decades. The working urban winery and tasting room on Sacramento Drive in San Luis Obispo offers an unpolished, cellar-floor experience with the winemaker often nearby.
