About Stonum Vineyards & Winery

Stonum Vineyards sits on North Alpine Road on the east side of the Mokelumne River viticultural area, the oldest grape-growing corner of Lodi. The family's story starts in 1979, when they purchased 17 acres of farmland planted to cherries and Tokay table grapes, along with a 60-year-old farmhouse. Over the decades they replanted to Zinfandel, restored the farmhouse and grounds, and in 2006 Mike and Kathy Stonum began making wine from the estate - releasing their first Signature Estate Zinfandel in 2009.

The deep, well-drained loamy-sand soils and the warm-day, cool-night rhythm of the Mokelumne corridor are classic Zinfandel country, and the estate Zin remains the flagship, joined by Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and small-lot bottlings. The KMS Collection, introduced in 2020, draws on sustainably farmed Lodi vineyards, and every single-vineyard wine names the grower who produced the fruit - fruit sourced beyond the estate must be Certified Sustainable.

The Tasting Barn, opened in 2018, is the kind of place built for lingering: flights come paired with small bites, charcuterie boards are available, and the grounds offer a pond, hammock, picnic tables, patio seating, and fire pits - plus a rentable cottage on the property. Family-friendly, pet-friendly, and open Friday through Sunday, 12pm to 5pm; tastings are $10, waived with a bottle.

Seventeen acres, one family, and a Tasting Barn by the pond - Lodi hospitality at its most unhurried.
