Run by Sidney Finan and her husband Maxx Eichberg in Buchanan, Stranger is a regenerative-agriculture, terroir-driven winery at the front of Southwest Michigan's quality push. The pair are part of a new wave of winemakers testing what the Lake Michigan Shore AVA can do, in a region where wine has been made since the 1970s but where, as Finan puts it, the tides are turning toward higher-quality growing and production.
