About Stressed Vines Cellars
Stressed Vines Cellars is a boutique winery just steps from the Healdsburg plaza, built on a simple but distinctive idea: the best wines come from vines that have struggled. Founder Rob Barney's journey started as a big-brand wine drinker who set out to understand what he truly loved; a two-week harvest in the Russian River Valley taught him how profoundly terroir shapes a wine, and he launched Stressed Vines in 2016.
The winery sources fruit exclusively from stressed vineyards, old vines, dry-farmed vines and high-elevation sites across Sonoma and Napa, where challenging conditions yield smaller crops of more concentrated, flavorful grapes, resulting in wines with robust flavor, balanced acidity and rounded tannins. The small-lot, often single-vineyard portfolio, crafted with acclaimed winemaker Erica Stancliff, spans Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and rose.
The cozy, modern-classic tasting room, complete with a living-room nook and fireplace, is a welcoming stop where you'll often be hosted by Rob himself, with cheese and charcuterie to pair. Family- and dog-friendly, open daily.
