When the PerrinWhen the Perrin family of Château Beaucastel — whose estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape has been producing some of France's greatest Southern Rhône wines since 1909 — partnered with American wine importer Robert Haas in 1989 to establish a California estate, they brought something unprecedented: certified disease-free cuttings of genuine Château Beaucastel varietal selections through the USDA quarantine system, importing Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, Counoise, Roussanne, Viognier, and other Southern Rhône varieties directly from the Beaucastel nurseries.
