About Tapteil Vineyard & Winery
Tapteil Vineyard and Winery is one of the pioneering estates on Red Mountain, Washington's most acclaimed AVA for powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style reds. The Pellet family planted their first vines on the steep, arid slopes of Red Mountain in 1985, making Tapteil one of the earliest vineyards in this now-prestigious appellation. The estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and red blends from vines grown on the well-drained, wind-swept soils that give Red Mountain wines their characteristic intensity, structure, and depth.
The tasting room offers an intimate, family-run experience where visitors can taste estate wines while taking in views of the vineyards and the Yakima River valley below. Tapteil's old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship, delivering concentrated dark fruit, fine tannins, and the mineral backbone that defines the best of Red Mountain. For collectors and enthusiasts seeking an authentic Red Mountain experience without the crowds, Tapteil is an essential stop.
