About F. Teldeschi Winery

F. Teldeschi Winery is a quintessential piece of Dry Creek Valley Zin Country, a family-owned winery just a hundred paces from the historic Dry Creek General Store, near Healdsburg. Its roots are deeply Italian: the Teldeschi family came from a village near Lucca, Tuscany, at the turn of the twentieth century, and patriarch Frank Teldeschi spent decades acquiring ranches and planting vines, today some 75 acres across Dry Creek, with vines ranging from young to more than 110 years old, most of them Zinfandel, Frank's favorite.

Dan Teldeschi established the winery itself in 1993. The family sells most of its prized old-vine fruit to other Sonoma and Napa producers but keeps some for its own robust, traditional wines, old-vine Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane and more, and is known for something rare: it won't release a wine until it's ready, so visitors can taste library vintages going back twenty-plus years.

The tiny, cozy tasting room, often with the owner himself pouring, is old-school Sonoma at its most genuine.
