Terre de Promissio takes its name from the Latin terra de promissione — the promised land, the territory of fulfillment that Canaan represented to the Israelites, the landscape whose abundance justifies the journey of arrival. Applied to the calcareous Westside Paso Robles terrain, the promised-land naming declares the estate's position as the destination that the Rhône variety's journey in California was always seeking: the calcareous limestone terrain that most closely approximates the Rhône Valley's most celebrated growing conditions.
