About The Dancing Fox Winery & Brewery
The Dancing Fox is downtown Lodi's only urban winery, and one of its most singular addresses: a beautifully restored historic brick building at 203 South School Street where three family passions - wine, beer, and bread - share one roof. Gregg and Colleen Lewis have grown wine grapes in the Lodi area since 1985; in 2007 they opened The Dancing Fox to realize Gregg's dream of a winery, Colleen's of a bakery, and their sons' of a brewery.
The wines are made from the Lewis family's Certified Sustainable estate vineyards in the Lodi appellation, running from dry varietals and unusual blends to sweet and sparkling bottlings. The bakery program is the signature twist: sourdough breads leavened with natural yeast captured from the family's own wine grapes, hand formed and baked in a brick wood-fired oven imported from Spain. The brewery rounds it out with small-batch stouts, pilsners, and IPAs.
The restaurant serves scratch-made lunch and dinner - the wood-fired pizza is the local favorite - plus Sunday brunch from 10am. Tastings are $10, waived with any bottle purchase, pouring five wines chosen for the week; groups larger than eight should call ahead. Closed Mondays; hours vary by day, with evening service Wednesday through Saturday.
Wine, beer, and sourdough under one historic brick roof - the yeast in the bread comes from the family's own grapes.
