Livermore Valley
Livermore Valley is the Bay Area's original and most enduring wine region โ 40+ wineries just 45 minutes from San Francisco, producing world-class Chardonnay and Petite Sirah from California's oldest wine estates.
About Livermore Valley
Livermore Valley has been making wine since the 1840s, making it one of California's oldest continuously producing wine regions. The valley's east-west orientation channels cooling Pacific winds through the Altamont Pass, creating a long, warm growing season ideal for Bordeaux and Italian varieties.
Concannon Vineyard (1883) and Wente Vineyards (1883) are two of California's oldest continuously operating family wineries โ both are still family-owned and producing acclaimed wines from the same land their founders farmed over 140 years ago.
Wente Vineyards developed the Wente clone of Chardonnay in the 1930s, which today accounts for roughly 80% of all Chardonnay planted in California โ one of the most influential winemaking contributions in American wine history.
