About Twisted Oak Winery
Twisted Oak brought irreverence to Calaveras County: founder Jeff Stai's Vallecito winery decorated its driveway with rubber chickens, named wines things like River of Skulls and %#&@!, and backed the jokes with serious Spanish and Rhone-variety winemaking, Tempranillo, Grenache and Mourvedre leading the list. The Murphys tasting room carries the same spirit into town.
The combination of humor and genuine quality made Twisted Oak a cult favorite and a Calaveras anchor. Come for the chickens, stay for the Tempranillo.
