About Val du Vino Winery

Val du Vino Winery combines French and Italian in its name — val (French for valley) and vino (Italian for wine) — creating a hybrid Franco-Italian phrase that means 'valley of wine.' The combination of the two dominant European wine culture languages in a single estate name declares both the Italian immigrant heritage that shaped Amador and El Dorado County wine culture and the French wine tradition that California has drawn from since the nineteenth century.

The Fairplay Road estate produces Zinfandel, Barbera, Grenache, and Viognier from Fair Play AVA estate vineyard blocks at high elevation with the Franco-Italian wine culture philosophy the bilingual naming implies.
