About Wind River Cellars
Wind River Cellars is one of the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge's most established and visitor-friendly estate wineries, producing Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, and a range of red blends that capture the dramatic terroir of this unique AVA where the Cascades meet the Columbia River. Founded in 1995 in the small town of Husum, the winery sits at the scenic crossroads of the Gorge's cooler western and warmer eastern microclimates.
The Columbia Gorge AVA is one of the most geologically dramatic wine regions in America, with elevations ranging from river level to over 2,000 feet and rainfall that can vary from 75 inches on the west end to 10 inches on the east, all within about 40 miles. Wind River Cellars takes advantage of this diversity, producing cool-climate whites like Riesling and Gewürztraminer alongside warmer-climate reds like Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera. The winery's estate vineyard sits at elevation in the foothills of Mount Adams, adding volcanic soils and mountain air to the flavor equation.
