About Abbot's Passage Winery & Mercantile
Abbot's Passage is a winery and mercantile in the heart of Glen Ellen, the relaxed, bohemian corner of Sonoma Valley. It is the personal project of Katie Bundschu, the first woman vintner in six generations of the Gundlach Bundschu family, whose Sonoma roots reach back to 1858. The wines break from Sonoma convention: co-fermented, Rhone-inspired field blends built from notable but often overlooked vineyards across California, layered yet approachable.
The visit is made for lingering. Taste inside the historic winery or out in the Olive Grove among 80-year-old vines, graze on a chef-driven, locally sourced menu, and browse the mercantile, a curated general store of home goods, jewelry, glassware, and rotating art by local makers. Add shuffleboard courts, ice cream sandwiches, and dog- and family-friendly grounds, and it becomes an easygoing afternoon rather than a quick pour.
