About Arroyo Cellars

Arroyo Cellars is what happens when a family of friends who gathered over food, laughter and homemade wine for twenty-five years decides to make it official. The group, which includes winemakers Tim and John along with several couples and close friends, founded the boutique urban winery in 2016 in Livermore's Research Drive wine district, after their wine-storage warehouse business and years of city approvals finally yielded a winery of their own.

The name explains the philosophy: an arroyo is a habitat that evolves over time, offering relief, food and drink, and a place to relax and coexist, and the tasting room aims to be exactly that. Inside, warm woods and a live-edge bar set a cozy contrast against the light-industrial surroundings, and the owners themselves, ask for Joe or Greg, are usually the ones pouring.

The small-lot wines punch above their weight and price, with a Gold Medal 2020 Merlot from the SF Chronicle Wine Competition, a Double Gold Meritage White and a Gold 2018 Zinfandel among the honors, plus a notably unoaked style of Chardonnay with a local following. The room opens weekend afternoons with appointments available other days, and the modest tasting fee is waived with a purchase.

Twenty-five years of friendship bottled: an owner-poured urban winery on Research Drive with medal-winning small lots.
