About Murrieta's Well
Murrieta's Well is Livermore history in working order: the estate rises around vineyards first planted in the 1880s by Louis Mel, whose cuttings from Chateau d'Yquem and Margaux helped seed California's Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, on land watered by the artesian well where bandit Joaquin Murrieta reputedly rested his horses. The Wente family, Livermore's first name, restored the estate.
The Spur and The Whip blends lead a small-lot estate program poured in the historic gravity-flow winery. Legend, lineage and gravel soils in one glass.
