About Augusta Vin
Augusta Vin has emerged as one of the most critically acclaimed wineries in Texas, earning some of the highest scores in the James Suckling 2025 Texas tasting report — a landmark recognition that put the Fredericksburg estate firmly on the national wine map. The winery occupies a soaring barn structure on 60 acres near Fredericksburg, where an extensive range of grape varieties is grown under the care of winemaker Zach Raines and his team.
The wine program spans Rhône, Spanish, and Bordeaux varieties, with particular distinction in whites. The Augusta Vin Roussanne Texas High Plains and Albariño Texas both drew praise for combining richness with precision — qualities rarely associated with Texas whites before Augusta Vin demonstrated what was possible. Their estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah from Hill Country are equally impressive.
The tasting room experience matches the quality of the wines: professional, spacious, and designed for visitors who take wine seriously without requiring pretension in return. The barn setting — airy and well-lit — frames the experience beautifully.
