About Austin Hope & Treana Tasting Cellar
The Austin Hope & Treana Tasting Cellar at 1585 Live Oak Road is the home estate of Hope Family Wines, one of the families that helped spark modern Paso Robles. Chuck and Marlyn Hope arrived in 1978 to farm apples and grapes in the Templeton Gap, and their son Austin, a Cal Poly fruit science grad, took the winemaking helm in 1996 and built Treana into the label that launched everything that followed.
Today the family portfolio spans six brands, Austin Hope, Treana, Quest, AUSTIN, Liberty School, and Troublemaker, and the house was named American Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast in 2022. The Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon has twice landed in the top ten of the Enthusiast 100, a run that helped cement Paso Robles as serious Cabernet country.
The Tasting Cellar itself is a fun, unpretentious spot: eclectic decor, a spacious indoor lounge, a cozy cellar enclave, and cabanas and patio seating that look over the family's estate vineyard. Seated, guided tastings run about 90 minutes through 4 to 5 wines, often with a surprise pour, and charcuterie is available; outside bites are welcome in the outdoor spaces.
It is open daily 10am to 5pm with reservations encouraged, minutes off Highway 46 West. If you are staying in town, the family also pours downtown at Hope on Park, a walk-in-friendly tasting room and creative space at 1140 Pine Street facing the city park.
