Avio Vineyards is named for the Italian avione — the word from which aviation derives, the aerial, the sky, the upward flight. Applied to wine, the avio philosophy declares aspiration in the literal sense: wine that aspires upward, toward the elevated expression of El Dorado County's high-altitude Apple Hill terrain.
