About BackRoad Vines
BackRoad Vines is a family-owned Suisun Valley winery operating inside the Village 360 destination on Suisun Valley Road. The winery works from a 25-acre property planted to an unusually broad collection of grapes, with eleven varieties represented in the vineyard and portfolio. That range gives visitors an opportunity to move beyond one regional specialty and compare white wines, red wines and blends within a single stop. The current tasting location also places the winery alongside food, coffee, wellness and event spaces, making it practical for groups whose members may want more than a conventional tasting-room visit.
Guests can choose between two distinctly different tasting formats. The full-service Signature Private Tasting presents five wines with a host and can be expanded with food, dessert or pairing options. Prepaid reservations are required for that experience. The self-guided option uses automated wine machines, allowing guests to choose the wines and pace that interest them. Wine is also available by the glass or bottle. Anyone planning a family outing should review the current age policy before arriving.
BackRoad Vines also uses the Village 360 property for a rotating calendar of experiences. Live music, food events, classes, private blending sessions and vineyard-related activities may appear on the schedule, while the surrounding complex provides additional places to eat or gather. The winery is currently open daily from late morning through the afternoon, although event nights can create extended schedules. BackRoad Vines works especially well for travelers who appreciate choice, whether that means building a self-directed flight, reserving a hosted tasting or combining wine with food and another activity at Village 360.
Suisun Valley sits in western Solano County, just east of Napa Valley and directly west of Fairfield, tucked between the Vaca Mountains and the Howell Mountains. It was recognized as an American Viticultural Area in 1982, among the earliest AVAs in California, and it has quietly grown wine grapes since the 1800s. Cool marine air draws in off San Pablo Bay each afternoon, and the valley runs roughly a 14 degree temperature swing from its lower to upper reaches, giving the region long, even ripening across more than twenty grape varieties. Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc are the calling cards, alongside Chardonnay, Barbera, Grenache, and other warm-climate grapes. Locals sometimes call Suisun Valley "Napa's backside," and the comparison is fair: family farms, unhurried tasting rooms, and honest pricing give it the feel of Napa a half century ago. Most wineries here are family owned, and it is common for the person pouring your wine to be the one who grew and made it.
Hours, tasting fees, and reservation policies change with the season, so it is worth checking the winery's website or calling ahead before you visit, especially on weekends. The details on this profile may have shifted since publication, and the producer is always the most authoritative source.
