About Bedrock Wine Co.
Bedrock Wine Co. is one of California's most intellectually significant small wine producers. Morgan Twain-Peterson, son of the legendary Joel Peterson of Ravenswood, founded Bedrock in 2007 with a mission that goes beyond winemaking: to identify, preserve, and celebrate California's surviving old-vine heritage.
Through his non-profit arm, the Historic Vineyard Society, Morgan has catalogued and helped preserve dozens of California's oldest continuously producing vineyards, most planted by Italian and Croatian immigrants before Prohibition. These vineyards, many containing heritage varieties no longer cultivated elsewhere in California, are the source for Bedrock's most celebrated wines.
The downtown Sonoma tasting room on First Street West is one of the most educationally compelling experiences near the Sonoma Plaza, a direct connection to Morgan's passion for California viticulture history. The wines range from field-blend expressions of mixed-black heritage vineyards to varietal Zinfandels, Syrah, and historic whites from rescued varieties. The feature in the SORBET organic tasting at Fort Mason confirms Bedrock's standing in the California organic wine movement.
At its Downtown Sonoma, Sonoma County location, Bedrock Wine Co. presents a featured lineup that includes Montafi Ranch Zinfandel, Heritage Red Wine, Own Rooted Old Vine Zinfandel, and Syrah. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.
