About Benziger Family Winery
Benziger Family Winery is a landmark of Sonoma Valley, set on an 85-acre ranch tucked into the slopes of Sonoma Mountain above Glen Ellen. The Benziger family arrived in the early 1980s and produced their first harvest in 1981, later becoming one of California's most influential pioneers of Biodynamic farming.
The family views the estate as a single living ecosystem, farming with certified Biodynamic, organic, and sustainable methods. Sheep graze among the vines, an on-site insectary breeds beneficial bugs, and all organic waste is recycled, an approach guests can explore on the winery's signature tractor-tram tour through the vineyards and 70-foot-deep wine caves.
Benziger crafts a broad portfolio of estate and Sonoma County wines, from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir to Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The dog-friendly property offers seated terrace tastings, casual flights, gardens, and picnic areas, with reciprocal visits at its sister winery, Imagery Estate.
