About Bella Vida 360
Bella Vida has been making Pinot Noir since the late 1990s, originally from a vineyard in the Dundee Hills. That site was sold around 2020 and Steven Whiteside, who owns and runs the operation, bought the hilltop estate in Yamhill that gives the label its current name.
The 360 is meant literally. The estate sits on a ridge under a canopy of Madrone trees with an unbroken view taking in the Coast Range, the Cascades and the valley floor between them. A newly built tasting room and venue went up to make use of it.
The wines are the unusual part. Rather than employing one winemaker, Bella Vida commissions several: a Winemaker Series puts three Pinot Noirs from the same vintage in the hands of three different people, and the Two Row Proprietor's Cuvee is a field blend of all seven Pinot Noir clones in the vineyard made by Patrick Reuter of Dominio IV. There is also a TLC bottling that funds a technical scholarship at Newberg High School, plus small lots of Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.
Tastings are private and by appointment only, running around ninety minutes with sparkling wine and light pairings outdoors. The estate also works as an events and wedding venue, and the community calendar runs to painting sessions and a star party held with the Carlton Observatory.
Three winemakers, one vintage, and a view that takes in both mountain ranges at once.
