About Bonny Doon Vineyard
Bonny Doon is Randall Grahm's legend: the original Rhone Ranger, whose Le Cigare Volant, a Chateauneuf homage named for the flying-saucer ban in its vineyards, and gleefully literate labels made him California wine's great iconoclast from the 1980s onward. Grahm championed Rhone and unloved varieties, screwcaps and truth-in-labeling decades ahead of consensus.
The brand passed to new ownership as Grahm turned to his Popelouchum vineyard experiment, but the Bonny Doon name remains synonymous with wit, iconoclasm and the Santa Cruz Mountains' free spirit. The saucer still flies.
