About Carhartt Family Wines
Carhartt Family Wines is Los Olivos at its most personal: a family-owned winery founded in 1996, when Mike and Brooke Carhartt planted the first vines on their historic Rancho Santa Ynez property in the heart of the valley. Today they farm and make the wines alongside their son Chase, and everything is sold 100 percent direct, through the tasting room, the club and the website, with no restaurants or retail anywhere.
The estate's varied microclimate lets the family grow and pour an unusually wide range, with 20 to 30 different wines released through the year, from Sauvignon Blanc and rose to Grenache, Syrah, Merlot and small experimental lots, half estate-grown and half from select Santa Ynez Valley vineyards.
The tasting room, affectionately known as the Carhartt Cabin, sits on Grand Avenue with a spacious garden patio out back, and the vibe is deliberately like a friend's backyard: tastings delivered to your seat, walk-ins welcome, leashed dogs, kids and even outside food all fine, with live music on select days. It is open virtually every day of the year, with reservations recommended Friday through Sunday.
