About Carlton Winemakers Studio

The Carlton Winemakers Studio is one of the Willamette Valley's most distinctive tasting destinations, a shared winemaking facility in the village of Carlton that has served as a launch-pad for some of the Pacific Northwest's most acclaimed wines. Founded in 2002 by Eric Hamacher, Luisa Ponzi, and Ned and Kristen Lumpkin, it was the first winery in the country built specifically as an alternating proprietorship, and the first in Oregon built to LEED green-building standards.

Rather than one label, the Studio houses a rotating roster of a dozen or more independent artisan vintners who share its state-of-the-art equipment and full-time staff, allowing each to focus purely on craft. The result is an unusually broad tasting experience, with well over a hundred wines released each year, from single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to Gamay, Gruner Veltliner, Rhone blends, and sparkling.

The tasting room pours a hand-selected flight drawn from these small producers, making it a one-stop way to explore the newest and rarest wines of the Willamette Valley. Open daily with no reservations required, it welcomes groups and offers a dog-friendly patio in the heart of Carlton.

A dozen-plus boutique vintners and 100+ small-batch wines under one pioneering green roof in Carlton.
