About Carr Vineyards & Winery

Carr Winery is one of downtown Santa Barbara's few fully working urban wineries, founded in 1999 by owner-winemaker Ryan Carr and housed in an unmistakable 1940s Quonset hut on Salsipuedes Street. Inside, barrels, tanks and a barrel-top bar share the arched space with a shuffleboard table; outside there is a patio with a fire pit, and live music and art shows keep the room lively.

Carr is also a farming operation: through Carr Vineyards, Ryan manages more than 100 acres of Santa Barbara County vineyards, growing much of his own fruit to spec. The roughly 4,500-case lineup leads with Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc, joined by Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Syrah, Sangiovese and Grenache, poured as tastings, by the glass and on tap.

The Quonset hut is open daily from noon into the evening, with walk-ins welcome, and a second tasting room operates in Old Town Santa Ynez inside the winery's 3,800-square-foot bottle warehouse, where the wines are waxed, aged and hand-packed.
