About Chapin Family Vineyards
Chapin Family Vineyards is one of Temecula Valley's most beloved hidden gems, a boutique winery where Old World winemaking meets warm, personal hospitality. The family has owned the property since 1987, planted their first vines in 2002, and every bottle carries the inscription "For the Love of Friendship," a motto that captures the spirit Steve Chapin brings to every visitor who steps onto the veranda. Nestled at the far end of Rancho California Road and surrounded by rolling vineyards and sweeping views, Chapin offers table-side service in a quiet, unhurried setting that feels more like visiting a friend's estate than touring a commercial winery.
Owner and winemaker Steve Chapin implements traditional European farming methods that nurture rich, full-bodied grapes, guided by the philosophy that eighty percent of a great wine begins in the vineyard. The wines are aged in both American and French oak and consistently deliver fruit-forward, beautifully balanced profiles with soft finishes. The lineup includes standout Italian varietals like Aglianico and Montepulciano alongside estate blends such as Eclipse and Summit, as well as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah, Syrah, Tannat, Verdelho, and Viognier. Seated tastings run $28 and do not require a reservation, and Steve himself is often behind the bar sharing stories and pouring wines with the kind of genuine warmth that has earned Chapin a fiercely loyal following among return visitors.
