About Chrysalis Vineyards
Chrysalis Vineyards is one of the most distinctive estates on the East Coast, situated in the foothills of the Bull Run Mountains just west of Middleburg in Loudoun County, Virginia. The winery has carved out a unique identity through its deep commitment to Norton, a native American grape that produced internationally celebrated red wines throughout the 1800s before Prohibition nearly erased it from the landscape. Chrysalis has dedicated itself to restoring Norton to its rightful place among fine wines, cultivating over 71 acres of estate vineyards that also include Viognier, Albarino, and a range of Spanish and French varietals chosen specifically for their affinity with Virginia's climate and soils.
The tasting room sits at the hilltop Ag District Center, reached by a scenic half-mile drive through the estate gates, and offers tastings seven days a week with extended evening hours on weekends. Norton reds deliver robust, berry-forward character with remarkable aging potential, while the Viognier and Albarino programs showcase the winery's versatility with aromatic, food-friendly whites. A full kitchen operates daily, making Chrysalis a destination for pairing wine with locally sourced food against a backdrop of rolling Virginia countryside. The winery's location less than an hour from Washington, D.C., makes it one of the most accessible stops in Virginia wine country.
