Cougar is Temecula's Italian-variety deep end: Rick and Jennifer Buffington planted their De Portola-area estate to a remarkable roster of Italian grapes, Falanghina, Aglianico, Vermentino, Sangiovese and rarer still, becoming the valley's most committed Italophile house and members of Italian-variety growing circles nationally.
