About Flying Horse Winery

Flying Horse Winery at 37888 De Portola Road is a family-owned estate on Temecula Valley's De Portola Wine Trail, taking its name from the Appaloosa horses that the founding family raises alongside their wine grapes on the same rural property. Founded in 2011, the winery embodies the dual agricultural heritage of the De Portola Road corridor, an area where vineyards and working ranches coexist and where the wine country experience feels genuinely connected to the land rather than manufactured for tourism.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Zinfandel anchor the Flying Horse program, with the estate's western Temecula Valley positioning providing access to the marine-influenced growing conditions that moderate temperatures and extend the ripening season compared to the warmer valley floor. The equestrian character of the property creates a distinctive atmosphere, visitors are as likely to encounter horses as wine barrels during a De Portola Road estate visit.

Open weekends from 11am to 5pm with walk-ins welcome and a $15 tasting fee, Flying Horse offers one of the De Portola Trail's most authentically agricultural and family-grounded tasting experiences. The ranch character and personal hospitality make it a natural pairing with the trail's other family estates.

"Flying Horse is where Temecula Valley wine country meets working ranch, an estate that raises horses and grows wine grapes on the same land with the same family attention."

Wine club membership provides access to limited estate releases and seasonal ranch events. For visitors who want a genuinely agricultural and family-oriented De Portola Road experience, Flying Horse Winery is one of the trail's most memorable and distinctive small estates.
