About Coursey Graves Estate Winery
Coursey Graves Estate Winery is a luxury mountaintop estate perched 1,500 feet up Bennett Mountain, above the Bennett Valley just south of Santa Rosa. The name pairs winemaker Cabell Coursey with Graves, a nod to the Bordeaux region, and the whole project, built over roughly eight years, is described by its makers as French-inspired, beautifully Sonoma. The 40-acre property holds 13 acres of hillside vineyards, a working boutique winery with wine caves, and elaborate Monet-style gardens complete with a pond, a handmade bridge and dozens of species of flowering plants.
The wines are Bordeaux-style and estate-anchored, led by Merlot and Cabernet from the mountain, and rounded out with fruit from Sonoma Coast sites and several prized Napa AVAs, including Howell Mountain and Oakville.
Visits are by reservation only and unfold as an experience rather than a quick pour. The signature 90-minute tasting is privately hosted and begins with a guided walk through the vineyards, gardens and caves before a seated flight with charcuterie and sweeping views; a shorter, semi-private option shares a communal table. With panoramas reaching nearly to the coast, it is one of the more elevated stops in the Sonoma Valley.
