About Crown Point Vineyards
Crown Point farms in Happy Canyon, the easternmost and warmest of Santa Barbara County's appellations, and the one where Bordeaux varieties actually get the heat they need to ripen properly.
That distinction matters in a county better known for cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Happy Canyon sits far enough inland to escape the marine air that defines the Sta. Rita Hills, which is why it produces the county's serious Cabernet.
The estate is on Fletcher Way, founded in 2012 by Roger Bower with winemaking led by Maayan Koschitzky, previously of Screaming Eagle. Reservations are recommended.
Happy Canyon Bordeaux, in the one corner of Santa Barbara warm enough to ripen it.
