About Crystal Basin Cellars
Crystal Basin Cellars is named for the Crystal Basin Recreation Area — the glacially carved granite basin above the estate in the El Dorado National Forest where the American River's forks originate from snowmelt of extraordinary clarity. The crystal water flowing from the basin feeds the watersheds that sustain the estate's vineyard soils and the agricultural ecosystem of the entire El Dorado County wine region.
The Carson Road estate in Camino produces Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Barbera, and Petite Sirah from El Dorado County estate vineyards at 2,600 to 3,000 feet elevation. The crystal-clarity philosophy extends to the winemaking: wines that reveal their sites with the transparency of the glacial meltwater the basin name invokes.
The daily walk-in experience is dog-friendly, picnic-welcoming, and family-hospitable.
