About Dark Water Winery
Dark Water Winery is a friendship made into a label: Chumash elder Reggie Pagaling and Italian-born winemaker Dave Mazzonetto make tiny lots together in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, with coastal heritage as the thread through the project.
The style is unapologetically bold, built on extended maceration and long barrel aging, and the wines that draw the most attention are a Happy Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon and an old-vine Zinfandel. Dave usually pours himself and will talk winemaking as long as you want to listen.
The Wine Ghetto is a working warehouse district rather than a scenic estate, which is part of the appeal. Confirm current hours and whether a reservation is needed before heading over.
