About Davis Bynum Winery
Davis Bynum Winery is named for Davis Bynum — one of the Russian River Valley's most historically significant pioneers, who established his personal-name winery in 1965, decades before the appellation was formally recognized and before the world knew that Russian River Valley Pinot Noir was something exceptional.
Bynum's early commitment to estate Westside Road farming and his personal-name declaration on the label placed him in a tradition of winemakers who take direct personal accountability for what they produce. The Westside Road estate has been among the Russian River Valley's most consistently respected Pinot Noir sources since Bynum first demonstrated what this fog-cooled corridor could produce.
The Russian River Valley AVA, recognized in 1983, owed part of its credibility to producers like Davis Bynum who farmed it seriously before the formal recognition arrived. His full-name winery is a piece of California wine history.
