About De La Montanya Winery
De La Montanya Winery is a family-owned boutique winery whose roots run six generations deep among Northern California's pioneer farmers. Dennis and Tina De La Montanya founded the estate in 1995 with plantings at their Home Ranch in the Russian River Valley, and in 2003 opened the winery and its tasting room, affectionately known as the Barn, on Foreman Lane just off Westside Road, a few minutes from downtown Healdsburg.
The draw here is variety. From roughly 270 acres of estate vineyards spanning the Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley and Lake County's Red Hills, the family produces more than thirty different wines in very small batches, some as few as 25 cases. Signature bottlings include Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Primitivo, Tempranillo and Cabernet, alongside a rotating cast of lesser-known varietals you won't find at bigger wineries.
The setting matches the wines: the Barn sits amid gardens and a Golden Delicious apple orchard at the Felta Creek Vineyard, straddling the Russian River and Dry Creek valleys. Tastings are casual and welcoming, seated in the garden or around the bar, and it is common to be poured by a member of the family.
