About Dierberg Estate Vineyards
Dierberg Estate Vineyards is the Sta. Rita Hills home of the Dierberg family, who began their winemaking story in Missouri before acquiring land in Santa Barbara County in the 1990s. Their Drum Canyon Vineyard tasting room, set west of Highway 101 between Lompoc and Buellton, showcases estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown on dramatic, wind-swept hillsides.
The Drum Canyon Vineyard climbs more than 400 feet above the tasting room, where persistent canyon winds and ocean influence stress the vines and concentrate the fruit. Farmed since 2008 and Certified California Sustainable, it yields wines of signature Sta. Rita Hills acidity and precision under winemaker Tyler Thomas, who trained in Burgundy.
The family also farms the Dierberg Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley and Star Lane in Happy Canyon, giving the estate an unusually complete picture of Santa Barbara County terroir. The relaxed, pet-friendly Drum Canyon patio is open seven days a week for flights and wines by the glass, with reservations encouraged and walk-ins welcome.
