About Four Vines Winery

Four Vines was one of Paso Robles' defining edgy Zinfandel brands of the 2000s, founded by winemaker Christian Tietje, who started out making wine in a garage and surf shack before building a following for bold, irreverent Zinfandels. Playful bottlings such as The Biker, The Maverick and the Old Vine Cuvee helped popularize Paso's big, brash Zin style across the country.

In 2010 the Four Vines brand and inventory were sold to Purple Wine Company, a Sonoma County firm based in Graton. Four Vines owned no vineyards, and its Paso Robles winery was not part of the sale, so the label became a multi-appellation Zinfandel brand produced in Sonoma, sourcing fruit from Paso Robles, Amador, Sonoma and beyond.

The original Four Vines tasting room in Paso Robles has since closed, and the brand is now distributed as a Purple Wine Company label rather than operated as a standalone Paso winery. This page is kept for reference; anyone seeking Four Vines wines should look for them through retail and the brand's current owner rather than a Paso tasting room.
