About Freed Estate Vineyards
Freed Estate Vineyards traces back to 2000, when Mike and Pam Freed bought a 36 acre farm in Winston and planted 12 acres of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Viognier. For years they sold the fruit to local wineries, and it earned real recognition along the way, including a Bronze medal for a 2002 Merlot at the Oregon State Fair and a Gold medal plus Best of Show for a 2008 Syrah at the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival.
In 2009 the Freeds built their own winery and tasting room on the property, adding an art gallery and a bit of the Hawaiian aloha spirit from their own roots. Every wine is estate grown, with no outside grapes, and the tasting room welcomes walk ins Thursday through Sunday afternoons, with appointments available the rest of the week.
