About Gary Farrell Wines

Gary Farrell Wines is one of the foundational names in Russian River Valley Pinot Noir history. Gary Farrell spent 14 years as head winemaker at Davis Bynum Winery — where he first worked with Rochioli, Allen, and other legendary Westside Road vineyard sources — before founding his own label in 1982. The wines he produced during the 1980s and 1990s under his own name helped establish the RRV's international reputation and created the template that an entire generation of California Pinot Noir producers would follow.

The Westside Road estate — perched on a hillside above the Russian River Valley floor — offers some of the most dramatic and comprehensive vineyard views available at any appointment winery in the corridor. The tasting room looks across Rochioli, Allen, Bacigalupi, and other legendary Westside Road vineyard sites that Gary Farrell worked with for decades and that the current winemaking team continues to source from.

Currently under the ownership of Wine Access, the Gary Farrell label continues to produce single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the Westside Road relationships that Gary built over 40 years of farming partnerships — Rochioli, Allen, Olivet Lane, and Hallberg Ranch — earning consistent 90–96 point recognition for wines that honor the RRV's most historically significant single-vineyard Pinot Noir tradition.
