About Greenwood Ridge Vineyards

Greenwood Ridge Vineyards is one of Anderson Valley's original modern wineries, established in 1980 by Allan Green and instantly recognizable by its octagonal tasting room on Highway 128. The building was designed by Aaron G. Green, Allan's father and a longtime associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, and constructed entirely from the wood of a single 400-year-old redwood that fell on the property in a 1969 storm.

The winery specializes in Pinot Noir and late harvest Riesling at fewer than 1,500 cases a year, drawing on an estate vineyard perched at 1,400 feet on Mendocino Ridge, and has been named among America's top 30 wineries three times by Wine and Spirits Magazine. Since 2016 it has belonged to Ken and Diane Wilson of Wilson Artisan Wineries, with winemaker Victoria Wilson continuing the tradition of Anderson Valley and Mendocino fruit.

Sustainability is not a slogan here: the property has been fully solar powered since 2006, feeding excess electricity back to the grid, and offers EV fast charging including a dedicated Tesla charger. Outside, a wraparound deck overlooks a pond with an ornate bridge to a small picnic island, while a garden-side patio adds bocce and a fire pit; reserved tastings come with a private outdoor table and sweeping valley views.
